where to hunt in rice co

I would like to take my son bird hunting this year,

is ther any public land down this way ?

I also have a first year hunter in my new choc/Lab .

I don"t want to mess up someone .

You might try a sporting goods store- Cabelas, etc and get a PRIM map or county map atlas. There are a number of Wildlife Management Areas in Rice county. There's one south of Faribault that is pretty large, has some pretty nice cover, gets quite a bit of traffic and I've only seen a few birds on. I haven't hunted it in quite a few years so with the favorable winters and spring nesting periods we've had it should be considerably better.

Smaller areas might be better and have less traffic such as Millersburg and others. Get the PRIM or County atlas maps and good luck!
