cheap way to ship deer mounts

Well after looking into everyway possible to ship deer mounts i found out this.

To big to ship postal

$480.00 ups 7 day

$275.00 ups 2 weeks

$545.oo Fed X

$60.00 to send it on any airlines 5 hour flight plus my gas to the airport

Here is how i built the crate (pics added)These were taken after i shipped it to Juneau Alaska

I used 3/8" plywood for the bottom and 1"x2" pine studs with 1/2" sheet rock screws then i added heavy card board to the sides/stapled it to the 1x2's.Lowered the deer inside and screwed 1/2" sheet rock screws into the back of mount (3screws).I then found a piece of card board for the top.It had a naturel bend in it where the top crosss member is on the crate.I stappled half the card board down and across the center where you see the stud.Left the other end open so the airlines could inspect the mount.Once it went through inspection i just duct taped the whole top down

I hope this saves $$$ and many headaches to anyone sending something like this.
