Aquaman01
Hardwood fire, 1 hour old, with a good coal bed and a flame log kept going.Green Salad with radishes and shredded carrots.Fileted pikeCast-Iron skillets (2) with peanut oilBaby Portabello mushroomscorn/cob/huskcanned potatoesequal parts flour and crushed corn flakesSummit Extra Pale AleWrap Corncob in husk in aluminum foil, put on grill over cooking fire.Heat peanut oil until a drop of water in it churns and gurgles, then pops & splatters.Put canned potatoes into oil, and cook until brown. Add baby Portabello Mushrooms. Oh yeah, the fish. Mix flour and crushed cornflakes in big Ziplock bag. Shake filets to flour-coat. Set aside. Add Summit Extra Pale Ale to ziploc bag and mix until the consistency of ...well...not runny, but not stiff, either. Put filets back in bag. Coat with batter. Fry in hot peanut oil. Drain fish, mushrooms and browned potatoes on some newspaper, or the bag from the beer. Eat it all- except the Green Salad. Throw the salad into the woods. Who the heck eats salad when they're camping, anyway?!This was the best meal I had all year! I shared the fish with an adjacent campsight and they brought me over a campfire apple pie - applepie filling in bread smacked into a campfire pie-maker. ------------------Aquaman<')}}}}}><{Peace and Fishes

husker4u9899
Corn in the husk..Try this Pre-Soak the corn still in the husk for 2-3 hours at the cabin, put into baggie with some water. When it's time to cook just put the corn still in the husk on the grill ( no need for foil) takes about 2-5 minutes depending on fire, husk will brown up, keep turning. Be really carefull when husking very hot...Gives the corn yet another flavor
husker4u9899
PS: Forgot..Cut the silk off as close to the husk as you can. Want to keep the husk tight, do this before soaking.
