Does anyone know of a good discussion or news group where I can get help on repair for a 1972 9.9 Chrysler outboard? My son lives 750 miles away and is having trouble getting the lower unit off. He took off the bolts from the lower unit and it drops about 2 inches and stops. I told him he would have to release the shifter rod and then it should fall off. He says he only sees one screw under the hood to release the shifter rod but he cant get to it. Its down to deep and to close to the side of the housing to get a screw driver on it. He also sees a steel ball in the linkage that fits tight and rotates in a socket when it shifts but he is afraid to try to pop it out. Thanks for any help. Bud
I am so very sorry to hear this and so sorry for the loss of Chamois. She was beautiful companion.
We will always miss the dogs we have lost. Unfortunately we lost both of our dogs just 6 days apart in November.
