Bilge Pump

I've got a Rule manually switched bilge pump. After almost losing the boat after a 6" overnight rain, I'm wondering what it would take to convert or change this out to a manual / auto pump. Can you add a float switch to the one I've got or change out the unit by replacing the "head" or "cartridge". Any thoughts?

Yes, you can add a float switch for them, any marina will have it (I don't have any, sorry).

But beware of fact it might fail if you keep bilge dirty, sometimes they get stuck with oil or other "junk" and won't activate.

My best suggestion is also to get a mooring cover, it will keep most of rain out of water, then bilge will kick in in case there's some left.
