fishing in Ames area

just wondering if there is anything going on around here. happen to be her seeing the kids for the weekend and wanted to take them fishing someplace. they like to fish and need some good spots to do so. any ideas?

if ya get back to ames, and don't mind getting wet, i always had luck wading the skunk. i caught my best fish starting at the access across from hallit pits and wade upstream as far as you want. there is another good access a little north of town on hwy 69. if they like to ice fish, hickory oaks has nice crappie and lots of good gills'. the hallit pits were private when i lived there, so i'm not sure about the fishing there, but you can catch lots of small fish at peterson pits, north of town.
