jjr
Wondering if anyone has used StrikeMaster or Vexilar handheld sonar for depth readings? How accurate are they through different ice conditions? Can there be snow on the ice? Any info/comments would be great, I'm thinking of purchasing one. 0 Guest
I have used the Strike Master unit before. It worked fine as long as the ice was clear. No sonar unit can work thru air either trapped in the ice or in snow. In order to get a good reading you need to clear all snow off a boot sized area then pour some water on the ice, this completes the contact of the transducer and the ice allowing the signal to go thru. This same proceedure will work with any portable sonar unit.Rob
