Silver Maple dropping it's leaves?

I have a Silver Maple in the back yard that is already dropping it's leaves. We just bought the place this spring so I don't know if this is it's normal cycle or not. Any ideas if this tree is dying or what might be going on?

It's probably stress from heat and lack of water. Put a garden hose under it just inside the edges of the branches furthest reaches. Thats about where the root system extends. Let the hose run slowly for a long time in one place and move it around the tree. It needs a deep soaking.
