NBC Elk Story

Did anyone happen to see the story that NBC ran a few weeks ago on the Elk in the Rocky Mountain National Park?

They are way to over populated, and because of the park status the courts have voted down the option of allowing hunters the chance at a lottery system, fee and all, at culling the heard and using the meat to feed their families.

What they have proposed is sharp shooters "coming in at night when the park is closed", with silenced rifles fixed with spotlights. NBC endorsed this as the right solution. Because If it were hunters the woods would be full of par-tiers up all night, and up early walking the woods with loaded firearms. They basically made it sound like hunters are a bunch of wild animals, vagrants looking to shoot up everything, signs, etc...

The antis had a field day against the hunters when we proposed the season and lottery but have not opposed the park sharp shooters coming in and killing the animals in the dark.

Kind of leaves you wondering, "where the hell is the sport in that?" And what the H are these people thinking. I know there has to be an exceptional clause somewhere in those old dusty documents that were written back in the turn of the century.

Some of these judges need to have some sack and start stepping up for the sportsman's and woman's rights. After-all it is are monies that maintain and purchase new land that every non-sports-enthusiast enjoys.

I wish the media would post an accurate $ amount of the funds that come from sportsmen and women that are dedicated to the benefiting of wildlife and habitat each year.

Maybe the public would not be so thankless and support us more on key issues if this was accurately made public.
