Live sucker rig

Recommended Posts

I hung a large sucker under a bobber this weekend looking for some Mississippi muskies. Before I went I made a trip to a large sporting goods store for a big bobber and some hooks. They had a bunch of differnt sucker rigs, leaders, hooks, even some that included a bobber. Most of them had several hooks including treble hooks.

I thought that wasn't legal? (live bait and a treble hook)CAn anyone chime in on this?

Treble hooks are only legal in MN if they are part of an artificial lure. You can make one of these rigs legal by adding a bead and a small spinner blade within 3 inches of the bait.

When fishing live bait for muskies, please use one a quickstrike rig (the ones with multiple trebles). It is the safest way to catch and release a musky on live bait.
