1st annual to vermilly

Hi.

Looking to make my first annual trip to Vermillion with wifey and am hoping for some recommendations.

Gonna be fishing 70% skis 30% pike with alot of trolling. Does anyone know of an area of the lake which would provide me with good muskie potential and some nice shallow weed flats loaded with little pike to keep the wife happy? If so which resort is nearby. Would like to camp with an electrical hookup for the boat and a nearby bathroom for the wife but am also willing to pay for a lodge/cabin.

Know I'm being pretty specific but I sure hope this rings a bell with someone out there.

Greenwood bay kind of in the middle of the lake is full of weeds and should provide some pike action and maybe even a musky. There are quite a few other rock humps and weedy bays to keep you busy in the area too. The closest resorts in the area would be Shamrock marina which has a few cabins or retreat lodge more towards frazier bay but still pretty close. Hope this helps and good luck! grin.gif

My wife and I just got back from Vermilion this afternoon. We take a week long vacation every year and always have stayed at McKinley Park Campground located near Soudan, MN. The camp sites have elec and water hook ups. The park also has a little shop for bait, food, washers/dryer and clean bathrooms/showers.

The managers, Jerry and Susie Chiabotti have always been very helpful in giving fishing hints and treat their guests like family. Their # is 218-753-5921.

Although I didn’t catch any muskies on this trip, I saw a lot of muskes on the shallow rock reefs and rocky points off of the many islands. Most people who are new to Lake Vermilion start out by fishing the numerous buoys that mark reefs or rock piles. Good luck.

Cliffy.
