Do any of you guys know much about sakakawea?

I want to find out some info on the lake like maps, public acsess, and what type of fish are there. Want to go ice fishing there this next year. I heard there are some monster pike and a few species of trout and/or salmon. Does the SD DNR have a site like MN. Thank you.

Yes, North Dakota's version of the DNR is called the North Dakota Game and Fish Dept. They have a HSOforum with a lot of info for you.

Most icefishing for walleye is done across highway 83 at Lake Audubon. Pike fishing on Sakakawea can be fantastic, especially at late ice. That's the time to hit the lake if you're looking for monster pike (March/April depending on the winter thaw).

There are many accesses around the lake and it all depends on where you are looking to fish. I believe the ND tourism department has a lake map of the state parks and accesses, but it doesn't show all the public landings. A ND state map will also show some of the more popular landings on the lake.

I'm heading up there on Sunday for a week of pre-fishing and then a walleye tourney on Friday and Saturday. Can't wait!
