Eyez
Pelican's slow, kampeska's been hit or miss, I haven't had any luck but some others have. Mornings seem to be better. Dry lake by florence was hot last week, but slowed down after the last cold front. Haven't heard from it in a few days. Heard various things from poinsett and Thompson ranging from dead to good, so those might be worth a shot. If I was going tomorrow I'd go to poinsett, run up to webster and hit lynn or maybe go over to swim or pickerel. Kampeska would be an option for me only because it's close. I've caught only 1 walleye in the last 6 hours I've been on kampeska over the last 2 weeks, but maybe that's just cause I'm out of practice. ifishsd
Thanks for the info. I fished poinsett over the July 4th weekend, fishing seemed to slow down from the prior weeks. I was thinking of trying it again, but have heard of some fish being caught on Kampesaka last week. I may try Poinsett tomorrow then Kampeska on Saturday. Eyez
Well, when I was on kampeska on sunday we fished for about 4 hours, trolling plugs and spinners/crawlers. Caught one 15" eye on a small hump out from memorial park about 10 minutes after we started, and then no more the rest of the evening. Worked the area in basically a triangle from marina bay to stony point to about a mile north of nukem's point. Marked a few fish in tight bunches right on the edge of the dropoffs into the basin where there were mayflies or some other bugs showing up on the graph, no luck getting them to bite even going fairly slow with crawlers.I'd heard some mixed reports from the north end of the lake along the edge of the basin, but I couldn't see any boats up there when I was there and after talking to a friend of mine who had been up there the day before and caught nothing, I stayed on the south end because it usually gets fished less. The hot weather could turn them on though, never know. On kampeska tomorrow is always a different day. Sometimes they bite one day and then it's slow for 3 days and then takes off for 2 days and then shuts off again. Never can tell when the mayflies are hatching. There's a LOT of 13-16 inch fish in there right now, but unlike past years they're not biting as hot out in the basin. At least for me anyway. sloughshark
Hey Brian, Kampeska has been pretty fair for me the last few weeks. I have been running out after work here and there during the week, which only gives me an hour and a half of daylight at the most and have been catching lotsa fish. Walleyes, silver bass, and smallies mostly. I also have been picking up a few nice rock bass and crappies. I have had better luck for walleyes running from the treatment plant up to city park in the 7-9 foot range, any deeper than that and its tough to get em'. #5 shad raps pearl white, chartreuse, and the blue/silver have been the most productive colors for me. They havent been big fish by any means most 14.5 up to 16.5 and some smaller ones mmixed in. Ive been gettin the smallies, crappies and rocko's North of sandy shore along the west bank by the houses, gotta be careful there some rock piles over there and they can wreak havoc on your tackle supply in a hurry, also have been picking up walleyes over there. I havent been out since saturday evening, but these spots seem to hold fish for me every summer year in and year out. Im gonna try to run out early saturday morning before I gotta go play softball. good luck to ya!
ifishsd
Went to Poinsett this morning. 6am to 12pm we fished. Got 5 walleyes and a northern pike. The northern was 13lbs. Three of the walleye were 17 to 19 inches long. 2 walleye were 10 inches long.
Tyler Holm
That's a nice pike. Good grief those things can be fun to catch. Nice catch.
