50/60 hp Motor Upgrade Questions

I have a 1997 40hp Mercury 4-cylinder (classic40). I love the motor but want to get something with more power. My boat (Alumacraft Dominator-16.5'-tiller)takes up to a 60hp. I like Mercury but have heard alot about the Eveinrude E-tec. I want something with power and still be able to troll down nice for back trolling. 4-stroke, 2-stroke?? Also, from what I have seen on the HSOforum specs on these, Is there much differance between a 50-60hp? Everything looks the same (weight, CC's, etc.) Thanks for any information.

I HAVE A 50 MERC 4-STROKE THE WAY I UNDERSTAND IS THER IS A CHIP THAT CONTROLS THE AIR AND FUEL ON THE MOTOR. I DON'T KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO GET TO THE CHIP.
