I have been doing this on my 4 stroke for four years. Change the oil, add stabilizer to the gas ahead of time and run it and drain or change the lower unit. That's it. Cylinder fogging for axample isn't necessary. My dealer told me to do it this way. For the last four Aprils it started on the first crank.

One thing I would add to Lawman's post would be if it is a carberated engine. I would recomend that after you have run the stable through the gas, unplug the fuel line and run it until it is out of gas. I had some trouble with my carberated 4 storke the 1st couple of springs with the carbs guming up even with stable before I started running it out of fuel before storage. Now I have a EFI 4 stroke and was told not to run the EFIs out of gas.

Good luck!
