chatterbaits for smallmouth?

Is anyone catching smallies using a chatterbait?? I am coming up to fish the rocks on Vermilion for smallies next month and was thinking it might be worth trying..maybe worked near the bottom like a crawdad. I have tried the white/chart on a steady retrieve for largemouth and did fair..thanks.

I did last weekend, the 1st time I used one it was chart.

I have caught several smallmouth on chatterbaits. I prefer a watermelon seed or firecracker skirt. I usually slow my retrieve to bang the bait off of structure to key the strike. I also have caught several at night using a black with chartreuse skirt. They seem to wor when the big thumping spinner bait doesn't some nights.
