Leeches is Walleye's mouth

Caught a couple of eyes this past weekend and they all had little (3/4 inch) leeches stuck to the insides of their mouths. The leeches weren't the traditional black color, rather a tranluscent greyish color. They also had a pretty tight grip when I tried to remove them. Anyone else ever seen this themselves?

That's very common in summer months over in the Missouri River in So Dak. I've seen it in other bodies of water as well.
