I fished the Dakota Sportsman last weekend. I don't have the results, but I can give you the general facts. This year it was filled to the max with 81 teams.

Just over 17 lbs (6 fish)won it on Saturday. The weather definitely was a factor. Cold, windy, and wet conditions made it tough for most teams. Only three teams limited with a lot of teams only weighing 1-3 fish.

The weather shaped up for Sunday and many teams faired well. Last I heard 22 lbs was in the lead.

The program that's worked so well for us in the past failed us this year confused.gif Weighed 3 fish on Saturday with a nice limit on Sunday. Couldn't pick up the big ones though. That's the way things go I guess.

Sadly, the director told us this is the last year for the Dakota Sportsman Tourney unless some one else volunteers to take it over. I hope someone will step up!

The fish seemed to be biting if you were able to put your bait in front of them. We had a major wind to contend with on Friday and Saturday. We actually quit fishing at noon on Friday because we were exhausted from battling the wind.

Sunday was by far the best fishing day as there were many limits brought into the scales.

Trolling Shadraps seemed to be what worked best for our boat but some of the livebait fishermen did alright too.

Rost,

It was fun hanging around the campground with you guys. I already miss SD in a big way. I will have to make another fishing run out there this summer yet.
