percherman
I was down in the Platte Creek area over the holiday and got to try various techniques due to the extreme winds. We had great success with crawlers and leeches on secondary ridge lines at 18-20'. We found that a 7' leader with a floater and a spinner worked the best since the fish were being marked a foot or two off the bottom. We also marked a route on the gps over the trees in the old river channel in 65'. We ran lead line and various plugs until we dialed in to what they wanted. The trick here is to run your plug just deep enough to tick a few trees now and then, or at about 30-35' down. We had a great time doing this and the fish were more than willing to smack the lures and give us a good fight on the long poles. If You haven't tried this, it's a must. No dirt on your fingers or in your boat. Its clean and simple. That whole stretch of river is covered with river bottom trees. Find yours and you will be on fish in no time.
