Zaraspooks
Going to this lake for the first time next week. Any one ever fish this lake? Is it a walleye, northern, smallie or trout lake? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
oldcritter
I've been there a couple of times. Fishing was pretty good but not great. Maybe I'm too picky. You'll catch walleyes and northerns, but mostly walleyes. I don't think there are any smallies there. Make sure you fish the Brennan Falls area at the northeast corner of the lake. You'll have to park your boat on the Brennan Lake side and walk over. Plenty of fish there and in the narrowing of Brennan called the "can". Are you staying at Rusty's place in the middle of the lake? It was a closed private place when I was up there years ago.
Zaraspooks
We will be staying at the private place. It used to be owned by Jeno Paulucci of Jeno's Pizza Rolls fame. He sold the resort to the owner of our company and we are the third group to go after the purchase.
oldcritter
I stopped at Jeno's one time when I was on Brennan. It's a gorgeous place on the souteast shore. Perhaps the nicest private place I've ever seen. it's a pretty good boat ride from there to the falls, with the "can" in between. I'm sure the new owner has a pretty good idea where to catch fish. Also, you can fish the Allanwater where it comes into Brennan. Should be good fishing down there. Lot's of canoes are using that route on their way to Wabakimi.
