Can I connect two batteries to run my 12v trolling motor so that I could run longer? Would I connect both positives together and both negatives together to keep it at 12v and not 24v? Thanks.

Yes, you can hook two batteries in parallel to increase current and run time.
Parallel being positive to positive and negative to negative, the output voltage remains at 12V.

That's the way I have my batteries set
up and it works great. I get much longer battery life.

Thanks for the advice. Would I have any problems hooking up both to an on-board charger down the road if they were in parrallel?

No problems with adding a charger later.
