stream trout in lakes opener reports

Did anyone fish lakes for trout this weekend? I got out early saturday morning and caught 5 tiny 8" rainbows. Left to go walleye fishing (I know, a bad idea ) and got skunked. Went out with the wife this morning and caught 10 rainbows between the two of us. It was a great morning. There was a good hatch of mayflies all morning long (Dark Hendricksons). It was a good wildlife watching day as well; we saw whitetails, turkeys, owls, loons, bald eagles, beavers, wood ducks, wigeons, teal, mallards, and canada geese with their goslings.

I got out on a little lake about a mile away from my house and released about 15 rainbows between 10-14 inches. I know the lake is probally meeant for kids to go dunk worms in but it was too nice to stay inside and too late in the day to drive anywhere else. I felt a little guilty but it sure was fun to pick up a bunch of rainbows on dry-flies.
