Question for opener?

Recommended Posts

Howdy, I will be fishing a lake for the opener that has a max depth of 9 ft. There are some points with rock, a couple inflows and some bullrushes. I was thinking of starting shallow in the morning and then maybe going to spinners and crawlers later on. Just wondering if anybody thinks that spinners might be too early... I was going to use them as a search bait beings the whole lake is kind of a bowl... I dont know what the water temps on the lake are now.. Thanks for any advice...

Sounds alot like the lake that ill be fishing. Your game plan is the same as mine. If you get out early try casting rapalas or jigs shallow. I would focas on the current and the structure areas. The water temp should be in the low 60s. Thats more than warm enough for using spinners or trolling plugs for search baits. Good luck

I know of a lake very similar. We troll minnow baits from one end to the other. There is really nothing for the fish to relate to so we pick them up anywhere. During the early season (b4 the weeds) you can also get by with lindy's or 3-way rigs and minnows.
