Woodcock Chicks

I was out turkey hunting this morning and nearly stepped on a nice hen woodcock. She did not fly far and her flight was eratic with her legs down.

I thought - you have a nest around here.

Looked about where she took off and there they were - three downy, black and yellow woodcock chicks. Each were smaller than a golf ball.

Where is the camera when you need it! Still, this one was a big one in my book.
