castmaster
i am looking to find data on walleye catch rates, in fish per angler hour.i just read where stream trout are caught at a rate of 1.1 fish per angler hour, and am curious as to what the numbers are for eyes on a statewide average.someone from WI is trying to tell me WI's #'s are 1 walleye for every 37 angler hours, and i just dont believe it can be anywhere near that "bad".any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!!! i have sent numerous emails to the DNR and havent got a single response. Roughfisher
I've seen that data, but can't find it. I did find a creel study on Lake Pulaski, which shows that anglers targeting walleye catch .099 fish per hour, and that that number is in "the second quartile" which means compared to all the lakes in the state, it's average to slightly below average. So on Pulaski, you're talking one walleye per (approximately) ten hours of fishing. Since that's slightly below average, if I had to guess, I'd say it was one walleye per eight hours of fishing. Of course it could be only six inches long, but it's a walleye, right? Here's the study: Creel Survey of Pulaski
