Yamaha 2000 50 H.P. gas problem

Guest

Question

Has anyone had experience with gas carb contamination? I allowed my boat gas tank to run dry due to a faulty fuel gauge. I evidently sucked some water from the bottom of the tank because the motor began to run rough. It idles ok and runs slow ok with a new external tank gas source with some seafoam added. But it will not run under high speed loads. Is there some cleaner anyone can recommend? Of does this call for
carb overhaul? Does anyone have an idea what a shop charges for a carb overhaul? Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Makky

when it comes on suddenly from something like that then it is probably a clogged jet
This would be different from a gum/varnsih build up so I dont think seafoam would work. I would take it apart and clean it.
