I am looking at perhaps getting a new prop for my 90hp Johnson four stroke motor. The boat is in storage right now so I don't know the prop size, but in talking with people it's my understanding that I can increase my mph a bit while lowering my rpms if I get a prop with a bigger cup and bigger in size than the Hustler I have now.
The holeshot is great so I'd like to keep that while hopefully gaining a bit in mph.
Last fall I think I was at 5,900 rpms at wide open throttle and I should be running closer to 5,400. I hit about 36mph with this prop so I'm hoping perhaps I can hit 38-40. Most important though is that I want to be running in the proper rpm band. The mphs bump would be a bonus.
If you have a prop on this motor that works well I'd like to hear the pitch size and your thoughts. (My boat is a 17' Crestliner side-console if that matters). Thanks very much.
