not that I know that much about red squirrel behaviour but I watched this one this morning for about 10 minutes jumping from branch to branch licking the small branches....not sure why it would do it.......the tree it's in appears to be a small maple...maybe it's licking the sweet spring sap....... grin.gif jonny

I saw this squirrel again this morning licking he tree!....lol grin.gif....looked up red squirrels on "google" and sure enough....they lick the sap!...in some caes,they bite of a twig at this time of year and wait for the sap to run out enjoying the sweet treat!.......you learn something every day grin.gif...jonny
