Bud
Some crankbait such as a rattle trap for one, has a split ring through the eye where you normally tie a Rapala knot. Why do they do that?
FRESHWATER PETIE
What's a rapala knot? How do you tie it?
PerchJerker
If the manufacturer has a split ring on a crank, leave it on and tie to it. If they don't have a split ring, don't put on one. Due to the style of the bait and the shape/location of where the line attaches, some run better with split rings and some run better without them.A rapala knot is a loop knot, there's others the do the same thing. Don't use a loop knot if you're tying to a split ring.
FRESHWATER PETIE
That's what I thought about the "Rapala" knot, thanks for the info. I use alot of Rapala's lipless cranks, and I beleive they all have slit rings to tie to.
