Is there a big diff. if so what is it???

I have a 14ft lund fishing boat, and I have an 8hrs merc. that isn't enough to push it around well enough, i want to upgrade to a 15 or 20, whats the diff. between short shaft and long, and would one or the other work better for my boat?? thanks guys

Yes theres a big difference. From center of the transom measure from the top to the hull. Its going to be 15" or 20". If its 15" then you need a short shaft outboard. 20" will be a long shaft.
