619 vs 620

Hi

My family is looking at buying a 2001 ranger 619 or a 620. I have heard that the 620 is front heavy and has had some troubles with nose diving into waves? Is this true? I have also heard that the 620 is slower compared to the 619. Does anybody know if this is right?, how fast does the 620 go with a 225 and the 619 with a 200. I also have one last question, I am wondering if the 2001 or 2002 optimax's (200&225) are good motors? I am wondering if they are still having any problems after mercs updates to them. So if you can help me with any of this and give your opinions, it would be appreciated.

I have researched those two boats (along with the 621) extensively in the last few months. If my memory serves, the gas tanks in the 620's prior to 2002 were further forward than they are now, so they were a little bow heavy. The 2001 amd 2002 big block Opti's deffinately have had their problems with blowing up, but the guys that have had them blow up are a bit more vocal than the ones that havn't had their blow up. Speed is roughly 60 on a 620 w/ 225 and 58 on a 619 w/200 from the guys I've talked to.

You'll have to decide for youself which layout you prefer between the 619 and 620. If money wasn't an issue, I would get a 617 and a 621

I'll probably end up with a 2002 or 2003 619 (with a Yamaha) in two years. I don't really need a 619, but my current Ranger is getting to small for our family outings, and a 619 would be the best compromise for us. My wife suggested a Bayliner, I can't type what I thought about that idea!

Good luck, and look at as many boats as you can, and be sure to ask questions about the motors(any brand) as to what repairs or updates they've had done to them.

Sorry N.BLM, your wife cracked me up, comparing a Ranger with a Bayliner, is just like a Yugo with a Mercedes S series.
