Winter trout stream regs.

During the winter steam trout season can you use spinning gear or is it flies and fly rods only? I have tried fly fishing in the summer but have not been successful at the catching part.

Still fun just to get out though.

You can use spinning gear during the winter season. You can even use live bait. Just make sure you crimp down the barbs on your hooks.

Not all streams are open for the winter season, so be sure you're on a stream that's actually open during the winter season.
