Guest
2 weeks.. thats all.In 2 weeks I will be catching numbers of channel cats on the banks of the Mississippi river in the metro... OPEN WATER fishing. My ice fishing days are done until next winter. I wont miss the sounds of power augers, snowmobiles, ice cracking.. and I wont have to hear the words Marcum, Vexilar, Glow Demon, buddy heater.. or ANYTHING that even sounds like it pertains to ice fishing... If I hear the word Otter, I better see an animal with hair on it!Good Bye ice fishing.. Hello open water! In 5 days I'll be leaving to soak up some sun and hook into some Blue cats in Missouri.. ahhh .. the sound of the outboard, the feel of a real fishing rod, big baits... and of course.. OPEN WATER! I might even put the clicker on here and there to hear it scream.I'll have to suffer fishing down there for several days.. then come back to some good old spring channel cats!Good Bye winter! river rat316
Your one lucky sob, I personally hate, yes I said HATE ice fishing, must be that A.D.D. or something cause I cant do it, I am really looking forward to Pool 2 this spring, this winter has been real hard with it being warm and then getting cold right at the end! I might be down at pool 2 in about 2-3 weeks looking for some channels or worse wet tshirts or I mean walleyes , but around the first of April the REAL fishing will start on pool 2, thats right SMALLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OHHHHHHHH I can feel it now, aint nothing better!!
Guest
I was hitting smallies last year real early on pool 2 chasing walleyes. I think it was mid march below the Ford dam.
Ralph Wiggum
Alright! The icefishing gear will be going away as soon as Cool Cats 2006 is over. I can't wait for some springtime channels.

Guest
It wont be long JP.. wont be long at all! There isnt much ice on the river this year.. its not going to take much weather to raise the water temps a couple degrees. A warmer weather rain event would be ideal to get the juices flowing.
