poutpro
What are the differences between these two guns? What are the pros and cons of each? What kind of experiences have you had with the guns?
Rost
I have owned a Benelli for 9 years now without a problem, so naturally I favor them. I really don't pay to much attention to the shotgun section anymore, as I have an awesome gun that fits my needs. However, I'd bet that either choice you make will be fine. I believe both would last for years.I do know that these two guns are very different as far as look and feel. Go to the store and shoulder both guns a few times and see which one feels better. Make your decision from there. If you are a bigger guy, you may want the Beretta due to the longer forearm.
bear204
i bought a sbe 2 this past spring and love it. it is light fits me good, and you can shoot it all day and want to keep shooting. I have not looked at the new beretta yet but when i was comparing the two the bennelli just felt right.

Old Guide
poutpro, I can't say much about the extrema2 except there seemed to be quite a few used ones on the racks after season. I own a sbe. The gun started being a single shot (one shot better than a club!) when waterfowl season started. I called the folks to check on warrenty. They said that they had a backlog and it would take 4 or 5 weeks to have the problem fixed. I've owned other benn. and never had a lick of problems. They're still one of the better "cold weather " autos on the market.
H20fowlr
I have a SBE, 1187, Gold Hunter and 870. The 1187 and the SBE I have shot sporting clays with. The 1187 held up well as as it was extremely clean and the oring was replaced frequently. I did have to have the recoil spring replaced and the spring tube honed out as hunting in flooded timber in Mo and AR it filled up with water and froze. The SBE is amazing. I have been in ND with reeds sticking out of the breach and it doesn't miss a beat. I shot sporting clays in a DU event with Sellier and Bellot low base 8's with no problems. Field Cleaning is easy, no gaskets or o rings. The only thing I don't like about Benelli is the choke patterns. I hunt with family and friends regularly and between us there are 5 SBE's and all of us have largely different patterns to our chokes. I since have bout a Light modified ported choke from Briley and it has made a world of difference.BTW one of my friends that traded his Baretta for an SBE wishes he hadn't. That's one of five that would prefer a Beretta. They are both good guns, and you will get viewpoints for and against both. I am not aware of any systemic problems (like the early Gold Hunters) with either. My suggestion is the Ben Franlklin approach. Look at both, write what you like about each and dislikes of each. Then make your list of the top 5 things you want in a gun. Most times this will point you to what you like best. Do the same with dislikes. If there are any significant issues on you dislikes that can then sway you towards the other.Just my$.02(more like$.25)
Bella's Dad
I have had an Extrema since they first came out. It is my 3rd Beretta and I love it. I have tried to shoot several SBEs and they just don't fit me. We have tried every combination of shims with little change in results. Every Beretta I own is "balls on" right out of the box. Both are fine guns but I strongly suggest you try both before buying since both are over $1000.00.
fisherking01
I know dalton outdoors has demo days for benelli, win, beretta. Don't know when. It's about an hour from fargo. Mike usually has demos on hand and a great range.
poutpro
Ended up going with a SBEII. I was told that the inertia system would work better in the cold weather. Also i liked the double beed sight and the angle of the forearm grip better.
