Ice auger recommendations

Looking for a Christmas gift for my dad. He is 67 and I would like to get him an auger that is fairly easy to operate. I would like to stay in the $300 range if possible. Thanks in advance.

I recently purchased an Eskimo Stingray new for $199 at the Ice Fishing Show. I think Cabelas has them for $219. They are only 1.2hp but should cut fine. It is both light in weight and cost.

I picked up a "Strike Master" last year and it is a very easy to use. I got mine at Sportsmans warehouse, but I believe you can find store locations at there web site. www.strikemaster.com

Don't know if you made a choice yet, but I was in the exact situation this year and bought the Strikemaster Electa 12000. Electric w/cables and battery pack. First time out I drilled 40 holes without recharging. Now my father-in-law can fish by himself. He is so excited! So am I! Just push a button and you are drilling!

If weight is a concern I think I would go with the strikemasters they are one of the lightest. Make sure you get the 2 blade model though. I think the single blade is awefully slow.
