Steel Leaders on tip ups

Question. I set my tipup with 50lbs braided dracron I have a 3 foot floro leader 8lbs should I top that off with a small steel leader or not??? Mostley will be fishing for walleyes, perch, and maybe some pannies

no leader nessessary unless fishing northerns,usually i dont

even use one then but others do,i dont personally use a steel leader all winter but will change test of leaders\mono

that i use depending on what i'm fishing for,hope that helps

If you are fishing for pike I would just use a 2 or 3 foot mono leader around 20lb test tied directly to the braid or use a small swivel.

edit* I need to read the original post better. I see you are not targeting pike. In that case I would skip the steel leader and just stick to the 8lb you have.
