Portable Ice House recommendations please

kkippley

Question

Hi all,

I just found this forum and I greatly appreciate any advice,

I am looking for a ice house for my dad for xmas and was looking at the Eskimo grand caravan at cabelas for $449 the bench seams to seat 3 and there seems like there would be enough room for a 4th person to sit on a seat near the door. does any one have any comments about this house or other suggestions in this price range?

First of all...Welcome!

If you do a little research in the Ice Fishing forums you can find a ton of good info regarding portable fish houses...pretty much every make, model and style. For the price range you are talking about, you should find something very nice. You will find that a lot of people recommend "Otter" fish house...cant go wrong with them....but take your time and check them all out....dont think you can go wrong. Good luck in your search. grin.gif

I have a Grand Caravan, and I wouldn't classify it as a comfortable house for more than 2 people. Sitting three on a bench for any length of time would be like riding in a truck seated three across. The Grand Caravan is wonderful for two people, and if thats how you'll fish most of the time I would recommend it. I have fished four people with it, but I spent most of the time outside tending tip-ups and cooking, while the wife and 2 of my daughters fished the house.
