I just spooled up some Power Pro Ice on a rod and noticed the coating that would rub off, particularly where I tied the knot. What is this coating? If it comes off, does my line soak up water? Is it supposed to come off?

What you are seeing is a coating used in manufacturing of the product, I believe. It may an addition to help repel water too. All of your braids will eventually be take up water. You may notice the line icing when it is used outside of a heated house or portable.
