Deitz Dittrich
A few questions were e-mailed to me, so I thought I would explain this a little better. This is something my father and I came up with quite a long time ago. Its always been a blast. So I thought I would share it with you all, so that you can give it a shot on your next ice outings. The Race to 5 is just that. Whom ever can catch 5 fish the quickest wins. You have to be within eyesight or earsight(if thats even a word) so there is no doubt when the contest starts and ends. The winner is then the Race to 5 World Champion, untill another challenge has been made. However, the defending champion is never allowed to decline a challenge. The challenger is also allowed to come up with the rules. For example... walleyes only, or crappies only... Or if fishing crappies, crappies count as 1 point, yet any other fish subtracts one from your total. So it may take you mny more than 5 fish to reach the total of 5. Or all crappies less than 8 inches loose .5 point. ECT.. the rules can be endless. When the action is really going, it is very possible for a Race to 5 World Championship to last less than 60 secconds. Or with some fun rule changes, it can take well over an hour or even on to a weekend. Also, this doenst have to be one on one.. this can be very fun in groups as well... Let us know on this post how you put the WOOOPIN to someone, Please post the rules you had in and the final score.. I think this could be very fun to keep track of during the season. Expecially if all the contestants were FM members!
