hootinanni
Hi, I am looking for a productive lake, that rents sleeper icehouses(4-6guys). My wifes brother-inlaws are coming up from Illinois and have NEVER been icefishing or seen a frozen lake that people drive on(they cannot believe it!)I want to bring them to a nice house set-up, where they will be comfortable for 2-3days and CATCH FISH(I know that is not always possible, I do fish a bit)but some spots are better than others. I live in Big Lake,Mn. not far from Mille Lacs(resort suggestions?) I do not want to drive the 5-6hrs. to Lake of the Woods or Red Lake, just to far, since they have already come from Il. If someone could give me some ideas, suggestions, tips, etc. as to where (MIGHT) be a GOOD lake, not real far away with GOOD accomedations! I want them to catch fish,(walleye, pike, crappies, perch, sunnies, etc.)give them something to always remember and maybe make it an annual event!!! On the event the fishing is slow (imagine that) a house with a tv,table stove, furnace, bathroom, bunks, would help break the dissapointment! The best time for them to come up is between mid Dec.-mid Jan. I know it depends on weather/ice conditions, but if someone could Please Help me with BEST dates to go, to fit their times.Best lakes, resorts, costs, recommendations, etc, I would GREATLY APPRECIATE it!!! Thank you for your time, effort, suggestions and concern! Hoping to hear some positive, informational, helpful feedback. Thanks again! Bill
ozzie
you pretty much answered your own question... if you don't want to drive to red or low then i would say mille lacs is your best bet!!!

Ears
I have gone with Mcquoids resort, they have really nice houses and good service. The fishing has been a little slow the last couple of years, but you will catch some perch for sure.
