wallydiver
Anybody know anything about these? Is it too small for walleye fishing?
Deitz Dittrich
WD- I bought 6 of these for ice fishing last year. I used them all last winter. A great reel for the money. I have a few with 6 lb florocarbon for walleyes, a few with 3 lb mono for gills and crappie and 1 with 20 lb braid for larger walleys and catfish.I am not sure it would work well with 8 lb mono.. but it worked great with 6. Matt Johnson
Sedona 750FB 3 A-RB® Anti-rust ball bearings. 1 Super Stopper II® Roller Bearing anti-reverse for instant hooksetting power. Lightweight Graphite frame, rotor and sideplate. Cold Forged Aluminum spool for increased strength and durability. Cold Forged Aluminum spare spool. Fluidrive II® polished, oversized drive gear for increased efficiency. I think you could get by just fine using it for walleye. 6 pound test would fill it up nicely and you'll be able to match it with several different rod options. A great option in my opinion... augernaut
Have not seen these reels in person, but would they run a tad large for a 24" UL panfish rod? I know a 500 series Shimano is usually a pretty good fit on a small rod....
Deitz Dittrich
aug- I have one on an ultralight... its fine with me.. but, to each thier own.. you may want to check one out in a store before you would order one online..
wallydiver
Sounds like it'll work all right for me. I've been using 2lb fireline lateley so I would think it would be a pretty good fit.
Matt Johnson
That reel will work just fine with 2 pound Fireline. Might not even be a bad choice to spool it with 3 or 4 pound Floroice on a ML action rod and use it as a perch/walleye/crappie combo? I'll often times use only 4 pound test for walleye. It will handle big fish. 2 of my 3 largest walleyes caught ice fishing came in on 4 pound test line and a ML action rod. Sure is a fun fight too
