chickens

My buddy's Lab mix has been disciplined for going down the road and bringing back chickens. She plays with them until they die. Now she won't go near a downed pheasant. If you hold it up to her she looks away with a look of shame on her face. How do you get her to differentiate between chickens and pheasants?

I don't know that you can. Dogs don't see a chicken, they see a bird. I'm guessing the dog was beat with one of the dead chickens, thats the way they used to do it anyway...The only solution I can see is to force fetch the dog. That way it will retrieve a log on fire if you tell it to.
