hanson
Hey hohn- Probably not but maybe a little. How's that for an answer?? What part of Lake of the Woods were you fishing last January? The bite has a tendency to shift around a bit and you may be able to follow the bite based on the reports on the Lake of the Woods forum here at FM. If you were fishing out of the Rainy River over Pine Island, it could be hit or miss that time of year. You never know. There may be a better bite over at Zippel Bay or Long Point, maybe 12 mile or 16 mile reefs. Its hard to say.
hohn
don't know exactly where we were at. we stayed in a sleeper through wheeler's, middle of january. i know we went over pine island, after that i'm lost.most shack's were reporting with a limit or two per house for the weekend. we had three guys in our group and we caught over 70 walleye/sauger, lost another 50 on the bottom of the hole in 2.5 days. i've always heard the fishing slows late jan/early feb up there, but so far that's not the case for the iowa boys. coldmark
Good to hear the Iowa boys did good hohn. Me and some michigan friends are making our first trip to LOW on Jan 15-19 and I was wonder what to expect that time of year. BTW, we're staying at Zippel Bay. Prof
I want to take my dad for an Upper Red - LOW weekend in mid-Jan and I am wondering the best place to go for sleepers on both lakes.
