gear box question

After buying a used boat and going though it, I discovered my lower unit holds a little less tha 1 tube of gear grease. Motor is about a 94 or 95 mariner 15 HP. I pulled both plugs, let it drain completly and refilled though lower plug slowly until lube came out top plug.

Sound correct??

BTW, after doing this I did have the boat in the water and it ran great and seemed just fine.
