coyote calling

this is going to be my first year coyote hunting, plan on buying a .223, with a 3-9x40 scope, is this big enough? confused.gif

Also I already have a knight & hale predator series call, I dont know if its a rabbit distress or pup call, and i dont know how long or fast you do it. confused.gif also what are some of the other basic calls i'll need. thanks for any info grin.gif

The great part about living in this day and age is the availability of educational tools to help you learn to call.

I'd suggest you buy a BUNCH of videos on the subject and pay attention to how and where they call and how the coyotes come in. They are way more educational than most guys will give them credit for.

Also, check the internet for predator hunting bulletin boards. They are a store-house of knowledge.

Good luck. It's not easy but is sure fun when you finally get one to respond.

primos calls has made some awesome videos featuring a hunter named randy anderson. i have learned a lot of good tips on calling coyotes through some of those videos. for outright hunting entertainment as well i would check out Verminators "predator or prey" lots of sweet impact shots on bobcats and yotes. check the local newstands as well as there is a new magazine out dedicated to calling. its full of excellent articles from hunters all across the us. not sure what exactly the name of it is, i left it in the "reading room" at the office. smirk.gif
