auto painter suggestion

jiggin pig

Question

I am looking for a suggestion on a auto painter around the Red Wing area that is cheap. I am not looking for anything fancy, just something that is better then the spray CAN painted brown primer that is on it now. I got the bomber for a $100. I was also wondering what the cost for a paint job is going roughly.

You'll spend more than you want to on paint and materials if you do it yourself or hire a local shop or tech - paint prices have jumped up a bit lately. For a cheap job, I'd look at the MAACO and Earl Scheib franchises, they buy paint in bulk (it'll be one stage enamel at the prices below) and can give you what you're looking for reasonably. I'm assuming you want a simple a one color car, overspray/orange peel/dents/old chips/door jambs and trim issues not critical, etc for $250-350.

They do a decent job for what you pay, but don't expect a three stage pearl finish, or one that looks so deep you'll fall into it grin.gif
