MIKE IN lINO III
....but I never cleaned a Duck. I plan on Duck hunting this weekend in the Bovey area. I know how to gut deer and clean pheasants but I never cleaned a Duck. Is it the same as a pheasant? I am aware of the laws for transportation. Thanks, Mike
Kodiak
pluck the breast, and breast it out.. no mess quick and easy
wrshog
I also breast them out but I skin them. No plucking required. Poke your thumbs through the skin just below the breast and peal the skin out towards the wings and up over the breast and fillet the meat off the bone. FOOT
Take to legs, put them in a crock pot, add BBQ sauce or Sauerkraut, cook on slow for 6 - 8 hours. Great snacks when you come in from a hard days hunting.
delta hunter
I'm kind of confused, do you have to have a undressed duck to take it from a hunting spot to you house? Or is that just if you choose to clean it at one's hunting spot or other then your home?
leechlake
if you shoot ducks in Bovey and bring them home to Lino Lakes you have to leave the head and one winged attached. I think there is a way to breast them that keeps the head and wing attached but if you just cut the breast out that's illegal. I've been stopped about every three years at DNR game checks in Walker and around Maple Grove on 94 and if you pull in with improperly dressed birds they'll ticket you and take the birds. Good luck, hope you do well.
