What time did the shooting start where you were at?

I read in another thread that people were fined for using spinning wing decoys. I know you can not use motorized decoys in MN but can you use the ones that are wind powered?

Guys across the lake from us on Saturday had one out and all the ducks went to their spread. If it is legal, I'd like to try one.

Wind powered is OK Mike in Lino.

The battery operated spinners are legal again after a certain date that I cannot recall. Check the waterfowl supplement to the regulations. Its pretty clear.

Interesting reading all the replies! It just goes to show that we need more CO's. From the sound of it, every CO that was out should have been able to tag someone for shooting early.

As far as shooting ducks on the water, thats no fun, I like to take them in the air.

Everyone in the area i hunted waited till 9 or a little after, but at around 8 we were setting up and in the distance the were quite a few shots in series of three. I dont know if they were waterfowl hunters or not, but how often do you hear grouse hunter shoot in series of three shots.

you guys should check out the dink on the reports thread that has admitted to shooting 10 minutes early and acts like it's no big deal.

I don't mind if I see someone open up 5mins or so early, but what really gets me is the guy who shows up 10 mins before shooting is scheduled to begin... There we are 10 mins before shooting is set to commence and what do we see… Some sob slowly rowing out right in the middle of the lake… He was not in his blind until about 9:15….
