brittman
Chased the grouse yesterday and did fine. Hunted from 8AM until noon and moved seven grouse. Shot one behind my older dog's point.About 1/3 of the time was spend with my seven month old Brittany. She ranged really nice in the cover along the trail we walked. We came around the corner to see a single on the ground. She chased a grouse off the trail. I had two flush to my right. Three birds, all easy shots, but passed. They were smaller, younger birds that I knew would not go far. Got the pup moving to place where the young birds flew. One flushed out the tree - the other flushed as the pup was trailing scent. She did great - first day hunting in the woods - no check cord either. Only wish we were in the high cycle so that we could get multiple exposures to birds.Heat took over by noon. Decided to head towards home. Walked two spots after 5 PM, but it was still 75 - 80 degrees. My older Britt paces herself nice on the last walk. Two points - one more in the bag, one too tired to shoot at.Seeing birds where I normally see them ... good news.
