fiskyknut
A very vocal and active minority post here often I believe Chris, and that is good to have for sure as we/they are no doubt passionate in the pursuit. I would also think alot of Walleye specific questions are directed at the various regional forums to which the user is seeking advice on. Went frog stomping and they are getting tougher to find, let alone catch at some locales already, Man can them bigger ones hit the water quick at this time of year. I do have a bunch of frozen models ready to go for next weekend if need be just incase the catching of frogs gets any worse for me eh! You don't happen to see any whole frozen Mackeral down that way ever do you? fiskyknut
hanson
Hmmm... FisherDave & I were talking about that last night. Or maybe it was Manny who brought it up. I bet I could find some. The cities has darn near everything else.I do still have some cut Goldeye in my freezer. I'll be bringing that with as well. Its not fresh but I landed a few channels on it last night. I think some of the pieces were still frozen solid when they were hit.
fiskyknut
Hey der, iffin you can find some without having to run around too much or pay an arm and a leg it might be worth it. More of a summertime bait for me though. It's worked well for me here as well as when fishing entirely different states for Catfish of one type or another in the past. Couple 3 years back I hardly ever would whisper of it here! Not too much of a biggie though as Kermit will come thru as he always does in the fall season! If not once yet this year sometime next year for sure we will get Dave out up this way.
hanson
Kermit!! LOL!... Not just for bass anymore. I'll get Dave up there, probably next year though. And heck Fisky, if you come down to the cities at the right time next summer, we should be able to put you on a few flatties. I'll be back up again a couple times in October but I'll be hunting with my dad. So much to do, too little time it seams.
fiskyknut
Hey Chris check your email could you, I'm out to the Roseau river here in a bit to try and get more frogs and once again try to catch a Sucker or 2. Came close yesterday with a Carp, 3 Wallys too, 1 of which was released into the grease for lunch today. I'd love to do the fishing thing down there but wonder if I could deal with the traffic, hustle and bustle and what not, been up here for a good longtime. Maybe take the AMTRAK like I do when I go to MI to visit and fish with my younger brother....Much less stressful! I don't know how you folks down there can handle that but I guess I have just gotten too calm in my old age, and too use to living where nothing really happens. 3 stoplites total in the 3 counties I frequent ya know! Guest
There is no traffic or competition where I fish.. unless of course I invited them.. most of the pressure in the metro is folks drowning worms, or floating some type of jig under a bobber... not exactly anything that pressures cats(or anything besides sheephead)Everyone that lives around here seems to think they need to fill the tank and drive there to catch cats.. and Millacs or some other foolish place to catch a walleye... Those pleasure boaters and Jet ski's take over much of the St Croix, and Lake Minnetonka... or nobody stays at home.. Now that the days are slightly cooler, and the water temps took a health drop(thank goodness).. the pleasure crowd is gone. Why should they? There are no fish here.It was slow this evening. We only managed about 12 with 2 being young flats.. one screaming run on a large live bait that was headed for louisiana the got nothing but a quick whisker hook.. gone as soon as the rod loaded.Thats fishing.Tomorrow(today?) the boat is getting out.. the fish have turned back on. Oldtyme
Uh OH! Only 950 posts ahead now (well 951 with this post) The walleyers have stepped up their games I went out last night & had a few nibblers & caught 2 trees (or something). After catching the 2nd I decided to go home early. Wish I could quit catching those, they are getting expensive. I was using rooster livers last night. I'm going back tonight with the rest & too an area I know is a bit more snag-free. I know they (or something) was liking the rooster liver but I always seem to be a bit um premature on my hooksets (lol) Should I wait until the rod is totally bending in half before attempting to set the hook? I guess my panfish habits are coming through and I'm afraid of letting them swallow the hook (I don't want to kill them, just catch them)

fiskyknut
Hey der Dave how goes it. Traffic meaning cars, congestion and such and such eh! Now traffic on the water I am growing more and more use to. LOTW in winter. The Rainy in the spring, That 'miracle mile' north of Lockport in the fall. Yup I have seen some heavy traffic! Deitz, attitudes have changed.....You can come out of the closet! Wish I had a buck for everytime the word 'senko' has been used on that bass forum. fikyknut
